Under 19 Boys and Girls break 4 x 100m relay records.

Maranatha Christian School relay athletes impress and inspire at the Independent Private School Inter High athletics meet.

It is fair to say the 4x100m is the pinnacle of each athletics (Track and Field) meet. The under 19 Boys and Girls Relay teams did not fail to impress.

The under 19 girls relay event set of in he second last event for the day, only to be followed by the under 19 boys. It was clear after the first hand over the MCS girls where just in a class of their own. Not necessarily the 4 fastest individuals but with pure determination and excellent teamwork the girls sore to a comfortable win.

MCS under 19 girls took gold in 4x100m relay and breaking the record with a time of 59,09 seconds. 

Witnessing what the under 19 MCS girls just did the boys were determined to follow suit. The under 19 boys 4x100m relay event was the last event of the day thus meaning the pressure was on. The confident and determined under 19 boys started well in the first handover running in second. 

The third hand over almost turned catastrophic when a competing athlete fell in front of John Cross after the second  hand over. John adding a hurdle jump to his sprint, he managed to maintain the lead on the third hand over. Handing over to Victor Obasie with precise timing and execution Victor set of with momentum and pure pace leaving the competition in his wake. 

Not only did the MCS under 19 Boys claim the gold medal by a large margin, they also smashed the record and setting a record new time of 46,47  Seconds
