MCS TRADITIONS

The eagle mascot popped up in 2015 after a group of Gr 11 learners decided to add mascot to enrich the schools sports spirit as well as add tradition in 2014. With this initiative the class of 2015 cemented the school to be known as the MCS Eagles. A couple months later Maranatha Christian School decided to add to the eagle family and introduced the elementary school to be further known as eaglets.

It is to be said the idea of an eagle came both from a teacher who spoke to the learners as well as a mysterious little eagle stuffed

toy that ended up coming back from a rugby and netball tour to Balito KZN in June 2012. With great success on the tour and the eagle been seen as a lucky charm it spent most of 2013 to 2015 next to the rugby field, Hidden from anyone as a superstition.

2019 Maranatha Christian School sports department decided to hos a cricket match where Old boys and Current players would mix and make up two sides to play an annual cricket match to keep the heritage of Maranatha Christian schools cricket alive after a great start to Maranatha Christians Schools cricket career and bringing back those who accomplished it.

The first match could not have been predicted or written any better with the match ending in a tie and the a tie in the super over. The Reds v Blues was named so for the plain reason of the school colors.

The Reds v Blues will later on start to include Netball, Soccer, Softball and Rugby.

Men’s Soccer Rivalry

There after Maranatha Christian School managed to beat the rivals again at the SACSSA National 7’s event in 2015.
